Several weeks ago, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation has declared that entrants must now display a photo ID to gain admission. This measure is part of their effort to boost its GameSense initiative aimed at helping players dealing with gambling difficulties. The new protocol was implemented starting Monday, June 26, 2023.

Individuals struggling with gambling issues have the option to join Game Break, a BCLC program that allows them to opt-out of gambling venues in B.C. temporarily, including avoiding PlayNow.

New Entry Requirements Effective

Starting this Monday, entrants are required to show a government-issued photo ID before accessing a casino. The security teams will scan these IDs against the Game Break database to ensure that those who have opted for self-exclusion cannot enter.

Pat Davis, leading as the president and CEO of BCLC, mentioned that players have been informed of these new entry protocols through various awareness campaigns. Emphasizing responsible gambling, the CEO also highlighted that residents have access to support resources, complimentary treatment, and preventive measures through Gambling Support BC.

Improved services in 2023

This year, BCLC has rolled out several enhancements to elevate the player experience. Through a three-year collaboration with Intralot, they're acquiring retail sports betting technology, expanding sportsbook operations throughout Western Canada.

Earlier in 2023, BCLC aligned with Everi Holdings Inc. to incorporate Everi's advanced Anti-Money Laundering solution into both their physical and digital gaming activities, broadening their reach. online gambling sites are already using this technology.
